Vitrine
A minimal image viewer for KDE, with a zoxide-powered picker and folder browsing by key.
C++ · Qt 6 · KDE Frameworks · CMake
Vitrine is an image viewer in the same style as Vellum: just the image, and a thin bar below it. Images are fitted without enlarging, and zooming keeps the point under the cursor in place, including on scaled screens. The neighbouring images in the folder are decoded in the background so flipping through doesn't wait, and the folder is watched so new, removed and edited images are picked up. Deleting moves to the freedesktop.org trash with undo, and the open popup shows thumbnails from the shared thumbnail cache that Dolphin uses, generating missing ones on a small thread pool. It also plays animated images, applies EXIF orientation, and reads AVIF, HEIF and JPEG XL through KDE's image plugins.
