Highroll
A Balatro-inspired competitive card game settled trustlessly on the NEAR blockchain.
Rust · NEAR SDK · React · Vite · TypeScript
Highroll is a competitive card game built for the trustless protocol track of COSC473. The core game logic is written once in Rust and compiled to both an on-chain smart contract and a client-side module, so players can play a run locally and have the round outcome verified on-chain afterwards. Wagers are held in a non-custodial escrow contract. The project is a Rust and React monorepo split across four Rust crates (game, matchmaking, ft and shared) with a Vite, React and TypeScript frontend. It was deployed to the NEAR testnet and accompanied by an academic white paper describing the verification scheme. In our three-person team I developed the core Rust game logic and designed the contract data structures for deck management and hand scoring, which let two players' independently played runs be verified on-chain. My teammates built the frontend.
